Few months back I changed various passwords to my various online accounts and it happened so that by doing so I also accidentally locked myself out of one of the Google accounts. Meaning that after changing the password I actually forgot what I changed it to and the password I saved in the password manager which was supposed to be the new one didn't work. It seems I saved a wrong one and I couldn't figure out which could be the right one because the password was one of those which were supposed to be secure like with random numbers and letters.Of course I tried the account recovery procedure over and over again but frankly that recovery is completely useless. I am pretty sure I answered the secret question correctly but of course I have no clue about the month and the year I created the account or what the recovery email is etc.
Because this is not my default Google account and I basically didn't use it much. But the thing is that after changing the password I added this Gmail account I can't access to my default Gmail account which means that I am both able to receive and send email from this Gmail account using my default Gmail account even if I actually can't access it. That means that I can still use this Gmail account both for sending and receive mail but without being able to actually sign into other Google service or change account settings and all that. So, I wonder if there is a way I could still fully recover this Google account? I mean I can read all mails that are sent to this account and I can also send mails using this account. I just messed up when I changed the password. I added it to my default online Gmail app by going into settings then accounts and then under 'send mail as:' I clicked add another email address you own and set the account to forward to my default one. I have all my Gmail and other e-mail accounts there so I receive and send all mail in one spot and I am also using the 'check mail from other accounts (using POP3) option for those accounts that comes with the domains I own. So, I use my default Gmail account to receive and send all mail from all mail accounts I own and use both Gmail and others. When I changed the password I simply copy pasted the new password but then somehow in the password manager I saved a wrong one. Also as I said this is not my default email address so I didn't change nothing but this password since I created it which had to be many years ago when there was no phone recovery and such options and I didn't upgrade to that once it came out.
I probably configure a recovery e-mail address but of course there is no way I can remember which one I used back then because there are a few I might have used. And I tried all I could have used in that recovery form but none seemed to work. I think it's because I don't remember any other info as when I created the account or which were the email addresses I most sent mails to using that email address etc. That's why I am saying that recovery form is useless because there is no way you could fill all those info right unless you had a robotic memory. I definitely know the answer to the secret question so I don't see why that itself isn't good enough.I saw that website before but the only way I have seems to be that recovery form and that just doesn't work for me. I mean it's ironic that I am prevented from accessing a Gmail account which I can actually already use. So, if my intention was to abuse someone else's account then I'd not need help from Google since I am already using this account.
As I said I could both receive and send mail from this account. I just messed it up in the process of changing the password since I saved a wrong one in the password manager. And I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but two times it happened that I received an e-mail verification request. Once from Facebook and once from something called Softnyxs online games. It looked like someone tried to use this email account with forgotten password to create a Facebook and this Softnyx account.
But then maybe it was just a typo from their side because otherwise it doesn't seem that the account was compromised. I mean I am not getting any mails that would suggest someone else has access to that account. Ok, lets say the account in question is [email protected]. This account was set to forward all received mails to my default Gmail account.
But I also added this xyz Gmail address to my default Gmail account so I don't just receive mails from that account but I can even compose an e-mail using this xyz Gmail account. That means that I could not just receive your mail if you sent it to [email protected] but I could even send you an email from [email protected] POP fetch is used for other e-mail accounts which are based on domains I own. What I wanted to say that I use the default Gmail account to manage all my e-mail accounts including this one with forgotten password.
